2007: 50% Syrah, 25% Carignan, 25% Grenache (1'500 Flaschen)
2008: 50% Syrah, 35% Carignan, 15% Grenache (1'800 Flaschen)
2009: 50% Syrah, 25% Carignan, 25% Grenache (1'500 Flaschen)
"Similarly styled to the Suis l'étoile bottling, yet a completely different blend, the 2011 La larme de l'âme is 70% Syrah, 20% Carignan and 10% Grenache that saw 24 months in older demi-muid.
It's a massive wine that has huge cassis, toasted spice, roasted meats and melted liquorice characteristics to go with a full-bodied, layered feel on the palate. I like the purity and
freshness here slightly more than the Suis l'étoile, yet both are brilliant wines. Drink this beauty over the coming 5-7 years as well, although, it certainly wouldn't surprise me to see it
evolve for longer." -The Wine Advocate 2015
"The 2010 Cotes Catalanes La Larme de l'âme shows the cooler nature of the vintage, with lively, fresh aromas and flavours of cassis, liquorice and crush rock-like minerality front and centre. It is full-bodied and beautifully concentrated, yet shows a reserved, backwards profile that will benefit from another year or two in the cellar. Comprised of 50% Syrah, 25% Grenache and 25% Carignan that spent 24 months in neutral barrel, it's a superb bottle of wine that will have 10-15 years of ultimate longevity."
The Wine Advocate 2014
"Dense, sappy and gripping but at the same time alluringly floral-calling to mind perfume of gentian and wisteria-this brings abundant, juicy, pit-tinged cherry as well as bloody red meaty savor and a stony cantus firmus into a terrifically persistent and saliva-inducing finish."
The Wine Advocate, February 2014
"It's sheer concentration is amazing, without the wine coming-off as in the least muscle-bound, rustic, or lacking in primary juiciness." The Wine Advocate, February 2014
"This is the most sweetly floral of all of the Domaine des Enfants 2008s, and that perfume lingers all the way through a long finish in which the sense of crushed stone and smoky peat adds a striking foundation for the wine's rich fruit layer..." Wine Advocate #195, June 2011
"Cherry and black raspberry preserves are tinged with talcum, cinnamon and tonka nut; and a sweetly-rich, polished palate manages remarkably to have resisted obvious effects of new wood..." Wine Advocate #195, June 2011
